The sound-wheel calling howler provides the ringing signal on communication networks equipped with Sound-Powered telephones. It is a small AC generator which, when actuated manually by rotating the control knob, provides an AC signal of about 1000Hz, very clear and characteristic of the Sound-Powered Telephone. It is designed to operate perfectly in damp or dust-loaden atmospheres.
