Each of these models is characterised by its activation distance and by its operating environment.
These switches are of two types: Automatic Resetting (RA) and two Stable Positions (PS).
The switch with automatic resetting (RA) is a monostable type. The contacts switch over as an inductor approaches. The contacts remain in this position only while the inductor is present. When the inductor withdraws, the contacts return to their initial position (rest).
The switch with two stable positions (PS) is of the bistable type. The contacts switch over as an inductor approaches. The contacts remain in this new position when the inductor withdraws. When the inductor returns from the opposite direction, this replaces the contacts in their initial position. It is a position indicator.
